Terry Alderton
Terry AldertonTerry Alderton is an outstanding and unpredictable comic: a tour de force. His improvisation, enormous stage presence, disregard for conventions, vocal dexterity and stunningly accurate impressions takes his show to another level. This mixture of interaction and set pieces makes each show an event, he's one of the few comics who can bring a crowd to their feet, night after night.

Described as "comedy's best kept secret", Essex-born Alderton, a former Perrier Award nominee, has been wowing audiences with his exuberant, loose-limbed physical comedy for several years now, with celebrity fan Eddie Izzard commenting on his 'fantastic comedy mind'.

He holds the record for the most encores at London's premiere comedy venue The Comedy Store, where he headlined their 30th Birthday Show over comic luminaries such as Jack Dee, Lee Mack and Jimmy Carr amongst many others.

Terry is co-starring in the forthcoming film 'The Flirting Club' playing a German called Gunther with Oscar nominated director Alex Jovy, which will have a big screen nationwide release in the Autumn. He is also doing a pilot for the BBC.

Past TV credits include The Royal Variety Show (ITV), The World Stands Up (Paramount), A Question Of TV (BBC1), Saturday Live (ITV), Jack Dee's Sunday Service (ITV) and 'The Jonathan Ross Show' (BBC) amongst others.

Alongside his previous sell out Edinburgh runs Alderton has also proved himself as a versatile actor with parts in "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "London's Burning", "The Bill" and "Holby City". A keen follower of football, Alderton has also worked on Setanta's Sports News channel, hosted his own football and music-based radio show for Capital Radio, and filmed a documentary on his beloved Southend United.

His fearless and outlandish onstage presence has led to many celebrity fans including Eddie Izzard and Joan Rivers. This upcoming tour is the perfect chance to get acquainted with one of Britain's best comic talents. With credentials like this, Terry Alderton may not be a secret for much longer.

From 8pm in The Ballroom. Tickets are £14 / £12 (concessions) available from Gilded Balloon on 0131 622 6555.
