LP Launch event.

The time has finally come to share with you the fruits of my labour.

It's been 5 years since I gave up the rat race to pursue my love of music, I'd always dabbled in it and taught myself guitar at the age of 12, inspired by my dad playing folk songs through my youth. But life got in the way from me really exploring my musical abilities, and when my son was old enough, I decided it was now or never.

It all started when I worked at the Alehouse, now the doghouse, and this is where I started trying out the open mic, and I was a total bag of nerves, but I persisted and continued to put myself through the wringer, my confidence grew and my voice got louder (thanks to Baz Simpson for his words of encouragement). This eventually led to me hosting my own open mic night in there, and was where I met Dougie Mathieson who has played bass for me ever since and has been as constant as a northern star in my musical journey. Since I started hosting open mic's, I started my own band The Mean Reds and we played festivals and all over Edinburgh. The time came for me to pursue music on my own more, without the backing of a band, this was another challenge, and it's led to where I am now, with my first album.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Leith Recording Company for recording my album, it's like the gold seal of approval as a musician and I am delighted with it. Every song on the album is different, and has their own special meanings, I had an eclectic mix of influences growing up and this shows through the album.

I'd like to thank you all for your continued support and ask that you all come to my album launch, no excuses, it finishes at 11pm for those with work the next day and it's only £5 to get in (this is to cover the cost of hiring the ballroom) and there is a special deal for those who haven't got the album yet, £12.50 entry including CD. Can't get any better than that.

Sorry for the long spiel but it really is a momentous occasion for me and marks 5 years of hard work and love of music.

Hope you can all come....I'll be waiting.....

Forming from the Ashes of a previous project, Deaf Mute Society (D.M.S) is a conscious effort to create the type of sound that brings people out to shows not just to be seen there on social media but to witness the band and immerse themselves in quality live music.

Heralding from Scotland’s capital city, D.M.S owes its identity to Frontman John Keenan’s exceptional vocal talent and to the solid musical foundations built by Guitarist Mikey Robertson, Drummer Callum Saint and Bassist Jonny Fairfoull. Whilst heavily influenced by Rock and Blues, this Edinburgh based collective also draw inspiration across the group from musical luminaries such as Nine Inch Nails, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana to Nile Rodgers, Robert Johnson and Prince, giving D.M.S a blend of sound that only reveals the true extent of its depths once you see them live.
