Polly And The Billets Doux

A harmonic blend of country, jazz, blues, folk and gospel.

The mighty Sparrahawk tell a story of a life span we all know and can empathize with. Fantastic live but not so hot dead.

Rosie Nimmo

With comparisons to Billie Holliday, Sandy Denny and Dory Previn, Rosie has a voice of clarity and depth.

Rosie has been singing jazz and blues for several years, including performances at this year’s Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival and the International Book Festival. Having been mainly covering the songs of others, Rosie now feels that she should share her view of the world with a wider audience and she’s been finding that people make connections with her songs.

The renowned fiddle player Mairi Campbell is one of several excellent musicians who have contributed to the making of Rosie’s debut album, ‘Lazy and Mellow’, due for release on 26th October, 2009; Mairi’s sensitive and insightful playing complements the words and music beautifully.

‘Lazy and Mellow’ was produced and engineered by Hobotalk’s Marc Pilley who also plays on most tracks and who has unbounded enthusiasm for Rosie’s music, commenting ‘this is going to have a very broad appeal as Rosie seems to have a way of saying things that touch people…..and great hooks too’

As an accomplished artist graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1997 Rosie (whose artwork has attracted much critical acclaim and coverage in the national press) produced most of the artwork on the album herself. Apart from the album artwork, for the moment she is concentrating her energies on music while keeping her art on a back burner.

Rosie’s self-released debut album ‘Lazy and Mellow’ is already attracting a great deal of support from national radio and the music world.
