ACR are part of Manchester musical DNA. Their early eighties records combined the melancholia of fellow travellers Joy Division with a dark funk and were groundbreaking. They were one of the key bands on Factory Records and their story is entwined with all the major moments in the city's music scene. A pre-Smiths Morrissey was a big fan, the Hacienda, and by extension the late eighties indie dance explosion, was patented by the band years before and their records really stand the test of time.

Very much one of the key players in the post punk period, their punk funk has been a key influence through the decades - especially in the past few years where barely a week goes by with out some hipster band from Brooklyn using them as base to their sound.

Tony Wilson adored them and despite avoiding commercial success have become a key influence on many bands from all over the world.

Sons of the Descent

SOTD are Hugh Duggie, Ian White and Stephen 'Bendy Toy' Evans. The band live in Edinburgh, Leith and Dalgetty Bay (Fife).

Ian was guitarist in Factory Records band the Wendys. Hugh fronted Mute band Foil and was in Lowlife with ex-Cocteau Twins bassist Will Heggie. Stephen was, and is, Bendy Toy, producer and solo electro act.

Ian and Hugh started things off in 2014 after a chance meeting, having not seen each other in the best part of twenty years. Over the next couple of years they wrote and recorded what became the Lazy Glamour debut album. BBC 6Music's Gideon Coe featured SOTD tracks several times through 2017 which encouraged the band to take things a bit more seriously. Stephen, an old friend and one time collaborator of Ian’s, got involved to do a remix and then to form a trio for live work. Since then he has joined permanently and shares writing/production.

SOTD self release through their Brawsome Productions moniker and make pop-tinged noir.
